Small Business Program Office - Mentor Protégé Program
GEM Technologies, Inc., was formally inducted into the Oak Ridge
National Laboratory's Mentor Protégé Program on January
22, 2003. GEM was recognized as a Mentor Protégé for
2003, 2004 and 2005 and is now a Mentor Protégé Alumnus.
The Oak Ridge National Laboratory Mentor-Protégé Program
is a Department of Energy initiative and is designed to assist
energy related firms in an effort to enhance their capability to
perform contracts and subcontracts for Oak Ridge National Laboratory
managed by UT-Battelle and other DOE Laboratories and Facilities.

Michael Evans, co-founder and majority owner of GEM Technologies
Inc., holds a dual bachelor of science degree in chemical and nuclear
engineering and a master of science degree in nuclear engineering
from the University of Maryland. He has 26 years experience in
engineering design, nuclear systems engineering and management.

Knoxville Small Business GEM Technologies Awarded DOE Contracts
Washington, D.C., June 8, 2004 - Congressman John J. Duncan,
Jr., (R-Tenn.) announced that the Department of Energy awarded
GEM Technologies, Inc., two contracts totaling over $3.2 million.
GEM constructed a new quadrangle common area
and main entrance modifications at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory.
